Morning was breaking - a cloudy morning with spectacular results. |
|
The first rays of sunshine on Kata Tjuta in the distance. |
We got up at 6am this morning to head out and catch the sunrise over Uluru, along with a couple of hundred others.
The boys weren't too happy to get up that early until the sky turned to pink and The Rock lit up briefly that put a smile on their faces.
Again the clouds won out, still magical to watch and the colour show was worthy of an early rise.

A little ray of sunshine hitting Uluru. |
|
The 3 boys, 2 little ones happier than when we woke them! |
|
Off to The Olgas (Kata Tjuta). |
After a leisurely breakfast and saying goodbye
to our fellow Novocastrian's, the Toddy's Tours crew, we headed out to Kata Tjuta.
|
We stopped off at a lookout along the way. |
|
7.4kms didn't seem hard - the rough terrain & loose rocks was. |
We started out on the circuit walk, 7.4kms through and around Kata Tjuta. We knew it was going to be tough going as Toddy's crew had done it the day before, but we were keen to get inside the mighty walls of Kata Tjuta. So with hydration packs full of water and snacks to keep our energy up along the way we set off.
The scenery was spectacular and well worth the very difficult walk, needless to say it was a quiet trip back to camp with 4 tired hikers in the car.
Toddy had warned us this morning that the dingo's liked shoes and had stolen one of Brett's Nike in the night.
This is what he found - looks like we've got to try and buy some thongs for Dec in the resort as we only have pair of boots and a pair of Crocs each.
Welcome to the club Dec. A dingo took one of my sandals at Karajini Gorge but I was able to wear them for the rest of the trip minus the end of a strap and a few teeth marks. They like the salt from sweaty feet! The Kata Tjuta track is a great walk.
